
History of Gelato
Welcome to the world of Storia Gelato, where passion and tradition create the most delicious ice cream treats. Since our founding in 2006, we have been dedicated to producing ice cream according to traditional Italian recipes using only natural ingredients. Our specialty includes unique flavors created from local ingredients from the Istrian region and collaborations with local producers. At Storia Gelato, we emphasize the philosophy and love invested in the creation of our premium ice cream, ensuring special taste experiences for our customers.
Our story began back in 2006 with the opening of our first ice cream parlor in the then newly opened Tower Center Rijeka. Like every beginning, ours was difficult with many failed recipes and even more trying out different flavor combinations and types of ice cream that the market accepted.
Next year we will add a new store in the tourist town of Rabac in Istria. Supported by the success of ice cream sales and the many compliments from our customers in 2008, we are opening a third store in Istria.
After several years of business, we wanted to position ourselves on the market as an ice cream manufacturer with an emphasis on HORECA. In order to be able to devote ourselves to the development of recipes and flavors, we decided to exit the retail business, and our stores will cease to operate, and the focus will be on education and development.
Market growth resumed with completely newly developed recipes in 2017.
Finally, in 2020, we started investing in a larger production plant and organizing our own distribution to our partners.
Until last year, we did not work on branding our ice cream or on major marketing, and sometime then the idea for the Storia Gelato brand was born, and the first appearance of our story was the Lovranska Štorija at Marunada 2022, when we prepared premium ice cream and desserts made from Lovran chestnuts.
Today, the Storia Gelato brand presents ice cream based on a strict classic Italian recipe made exclusively from natural ingredients and without the addition of emulsifiers, flavor enhancers or any industrial ingredients.
Our ice cream can be easily distinguished on the market by its full flavor, creamy texture, lower sugar content, and the occasional secret ingredient to delight many future generations of ice cream lovers with our special flavor.
Why Storia Gelato? Because we have a whole story to tell about ice cream and a lot of philosophy and love during the preparation of our Signature flavors that we are sure you have never tried anywhere else.
We love local!
In order to support small local producers, we have designed special limited flavors made exclusively from local ingredients such as natural ingredients from the area of Istria, Kvarner, Gorski Kotar, Dalmatia, etc.
Storia Gelato collaborates with local OPGs and uses their ingredients to produce premium quality ice cream that can be tried exclusively at local partners in a specific area. For example, in Istria you can try ice cream made from Istrian cheese, milk, ricotta, olive oil, Malvasia, Istrian brandy, local fruit and everything else that you can only find in Istria.
